Budongo Forest Reserve, located in northwestern Uganda at the southern edge of Murchison Falls National Park, spans over 800 square kilometers of rich tropical rainforest. It is one of Uganda’s largest and most ecologically significant forests, famous for its primates, birds, and ancient mahogany trees.
Budongo Forest stretches across several districts, including:
Masindi District; the main gateway for most visitors.
Buliisa District; northern edge of the forest bordering Murchison Falls National Park.
Kiryandongo District; eastern side, with access roads connecting to major towns.
Nwoya District; western fringes of the forest ecosystem.
These districts provide access points and support conservation and community tourism initiatives linked to the forest.
